LOCAL LEGENDS

The first European to reach the cape was the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias. He named it “the Cape of Storms” & for good reason. This stretch of coastline, where the ocean meets the mountains, is infamous for strong winds & large swells. The fact that our coastlines are littered with shipwrecks is a testament to this fact.
But there are moments in between Mother Natures’ breaths when the wind dies & the sea calms. These rare moments allow the people of the Cape, the opportunity to gain a perspective of this raw, rugged, wild beauty that few ever get to experience. Our Cape Waterman Challenge is an Experience dedicated to this perspective.
